MUHE FARM

Muhe Farm was founded after the government’s “GIRINKA” program, which gives one cow to every rural family to generate economic wealth through the sale of milk, tremendously increasing the amount of raw milk in Rwanda. However, many of these families did not live near a proper processing facility—since distance and time lessens the quality of unprocessed milk, much of the milk was wasted instead of being another economic source for the family. Therefore, Muhe Farm helps support this government initiative by operating a strategically located milk processing facility in the Gishwati area in the Western Province where they process milk for consumption and into award-winning cheese. This allows farmers to have a proper market where they can receive a fair price for their raw milk.
