Solar Home Systems
A Solar Home System (SHS) is a small-scale, autonomous electricity supply for households that are off-grid or have unreliable access to energy. It generates electricity from sunshine and stores the electricity in a battery for consumption during the night or on cloudy days.
SOLEKTRA Rwanda has installed many solar home systems in Rwanda and in the region, many people have been impacted by the customized solutions; affordability and flexible payment models attracted our customers to work with SOLEKTRA.

Projects Executed
SOLEKTRA has participated in numerous electrification projects, such as Government and Private Projects:
- SOLEKTRA has been offered a tender by Nyamasheke District to install Solar home systems
- SOLEKTRA has been offered a tender by Ngororero District to install Solar home systems
- SOLEKTRA has been selected to participate in the Result Based Financing (RBF) project by EndeEv and GIZ where Solar home systems are distributed.
- SOLEKTRA has been selected to participate in the REF Project by World Bank and Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD) where we installed over 500 people so far, this is an ongoing project.
- SOLEKTRA has been also selected by Practical Action to install solar home systems in 3 refugee camps namely Nyabiheke and Kigeme in Rwanda.
- SOLEKTRA was recently selected by Gatsibo District to install 4 Health Posts
