He is believed to be the founder of Nyiginya Dynasty that started as small political entity. The state was known as Rwanda rugari rwa Gasabo, meaning the vast Rwanda of Gasabo. It was located on the shores of Lake Muhazi, in today’s Gasabo district

which was later expanded to the Rwanda we know today.
